The AI Overnight Success Story?
I love discovering new technologies and apps.
Most recently I came across Lensa. And, if you haven’t heard or seen this ahttps://prisma-ai.com/lensapp it might just blow your mind for a lot of different reasons.
Lensa is a popular app that uses AI technology to turn users’ selfies into elevated art. You have probably seen one of your friends or colleagues post these really cool photos on their social media and that have made them look like superheroes, astronauts, ethereal fairy princesses, and anime leads.
This app has recently gained a lot of popularity but don’t be fooled it is not an overnight success story but a brand that made a change to become a success story.
But let’s not jump ahead let’s start at the beginning.
What is AI?
Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision.
Some examples of products that use AI that you might be familiar with are Apple’s Siri, Google Now, and Amazon’s Alexa. These digital assistants help people perform various tasks from checking their schedules and searching for something on the web to sending requests to another app.
How does it work?
AI works by combining large amounts of data with fast, iterative processing and intelligent algorithms, allowing the software to learn automatically from patterns or features in the data.
Why is AI so important?
The amount of data that is generated outpaces humans’ ability to absorb, interpret, and make complex decisions based on that data. Some say that AI will be the future for all complex decision making. This sounds like a bit of trouble to me but we will see. It will be important to keep track of how and where it is being used – let’s hope it is always used for good purposes.
Why did Lensa become such a trend recently?
Lensa was founded in 2018 and they were originally listed as a photo editing app for your selfies, which as you can imagine there are so many other companies out there that also do this. They recently skyrocketed to the top of the charts because they launched Magic Avatar which allows you as a user the ability to upload 10-20 photos of yourself and if you pay only $7.99 you receive 100 photo avatars all within 20 minutes.
The avatars come in 10 different styles.
Some are hit and some are miss but the craziest part is that this is all done in under 20 minutes.
And, just to put that in perspective – the app uploads the photos, analyzes the data (your face) and then creates 100 new looks in 10 different styles.
Lensa put out an offering that people want, priced it correctly, and made it super easy for the end user to give it a try.
This is exactly how you change the game in your industry and shake things up.
There might be other companies out there that do something similar, but Lensa came to market at the right time with the right product and the right price to get people to buy in.
Even though some will look at it as an overnight success story – this company has been in business since 2018 and put together a breakout solution that meets the current needs of consumers.
Who knew so many people wanted to see themselves as fairies, an anime character or superhero???
I can see companies starting to use this type of creativity in their marketing efforts. It is super low cost for a small business owner to try and it just might spark something that becomes your break out offer.
TIPS ON USING THE APP
If you are going to try this app, be sure to only select head shots. They give you examples of what are good pictures to import and what are not good pictures. And although you can upload up to 20, I would probably just stick with your absolute top 10.
I also think if you have high resolution images that are super clear and crisp you will get better results.
Some of the photos will look like you, some not so much but it is still a little fun if you have $10 to spare and want to get a little creative with your look.
Who knows you might find a new hair style or make up style you want to try while you are at it?
